Folksy is a place to buy handmade things, and for makers to sell their work and find supplies. Based in the UK, Folksy aims to reclaim craft and showcase talented makers and their work.
Since being established in 2007 Folksy has grown to include host thousands of shops run by independent designers and crafters who make unique handmade items. When you buy on Folksy you are getting something you won't find on the high street and you're also helping to support small businesses in the UK.
The Folksy philosophy
- We believe that there are a lot of talented people who make wonderful things and that those people and those things deserve a better platform.
- Small scale production and handmade goods offer ways to manage resources effectively and support local economies. We're not anti-globalisation but we just like a thriving cottage industry too :)
- Making stuff is fun. This is really important and taps into the inclusiveness of the site. We want to encourage more people to make things, not necessarily to sell, but for their own enjoyment.
