Wedding Fever

This summer I got married. Being the crafty-type that I am, I was determined to make everything from the wedding invites to the venue decor myself.  As anyone who's tried this will attest, this really is no small undertaking & ended up taking over my life for months on end! (All worth it on the day of course, & the copious amounts of bunting WILL be re-used at every vaguely party-ish opportunity for the foreseeable future!)

For anyone who's not quite as obsessive & crazy as me though, please know that Folksy is your FRIEND when it comes to wedding preparations: Thanks to these amazing artists, you can add handmade touches to your wedding, at the mere click of a button! (Now, what on earth was I thinking?!?)

Craft Gets Saucy!

Hello there, Folksians! This week I wanted to look at some fashion; specifically some things with a naughty but nice edge...and I've found a whole host of beautifully designed and made pieces that fit the bill. We all know craft is cool, and now it's getting sexy, as this bundle of saucy treasures goes to show. Enjoy!

Hatastic has upcycled an old summer hat into this fresh new headpiece, the Butterfly Bow Fascinator. And she's sure selling it with this photo, with lingerie by Ayten Gasson - a great doubling up of talents!

CurlyBonesCreations has created this dramatic, black bustle. You'd sure make a grand entrance!

All shapes are catered for by Oh My Honey, with a selection of these fun and sexy 1950's style dresses.

Look cute and sassy on the beach this summer with this flirty, pin up 'Pearl' bikini by Little Beach Swimwear, which manages to be both current and perfectly retro.

These Red Satin Burlesque Bow shoe clips are ever so sweet. Seriously Satin Bows has made them for you to jazz up your current shoes. I think they might make you feel just a little bit kittenish and naughty.

Enjoy retro summer days in the sun, with this adorable little nautical pill box hat made by KittyPink. Get yourself beside the seaside and whistle at some sailors!

Another hat, a different mood. Two things I love here. The black veiled mini top hat by Topperhats looks beautifully made and is terribly seductive, while the photograph totally sells it; fabulous photography and a stunning model. Sublimely done. I want one.

I think these are to die for! Harlequin Frills High Waist Briefs by Lilly Wiggler Couture, available in this colourway or in black and white. Also see Lilly's other brilliant underwear in her shop, including bras to match these knickers.

You couldn't help but feel exceptionally glamourous, fanning yourself with these gorgeous feathers. This huge ostrich feather fan by Talulah Blue Burlesque is available in a selection of colours to suit your mood.

That's all folks! I hope this has been an inspiration to get scouring Folksy for some sassy finds. I'm off to dance with my feather fan. See you next time!

O Flower Of Scotland...

Today is the anniversary of the death of Robert the Bruce - crowned the first recognised King of Scotland as an independent nation. He fought in many fierce and bloody wars (mainly with the English) in his lifetime, and his legacy was a strong and beautiful country, full of pride, and he remains a national hero.

Being so far back in history, little is known about the details of his life - but my favourite fact relates to his parents: legend has it that his mother kept his father as a captive until he agreed to marry her! It seems there were commitment-phobes even as far back as the 14th century!

Anyway, I thought what better than to celebrate all things Scottish today, and so here is a lovely selection of items that I "Found on Folksy"...
