I Love ART!

Where can you buy original art direct from emerging contemporary artists at a snip? Folksy of course! Buy before they get famous and reap the benefits of owning an original masterpiece. I would blow my children's inheritance on art, if there was any inheritance for them, that is!

Raining in Manchester

It rains a lot in Manchester, but that hasn't dampened this Mancunians spirit, I'm sat watching the rain come down and I've found a few things that reflect the best bits of Manchester on Folksy.

The signs might say 'Manchester Central' but all true Manc's know it as the G-Mex, there's a lot of Manchester love from Purple Pixie.

Love this photographic print from MojoSteph, it sums up the Manchester I knew in the 90's, before all the fancy glass and brushed steel buildings.

Lil Sonny Sky makes lovely prints, this print is hand-screenprinted with lots of loving care and from a limited run of 15.

One of Manchester's favourite sons, Morrissey. Show some Smiths love with these earrings from Voodooville.

Made in Manchester by Queenie O'Coco, this raincloud brooch has a mirror finish and a great graphic style.

More cute wearable raindrops with these vintage style peacock pearl drop earrings from JimJams Jewellery.

The rain had stopped now and a blue sky is peaking through, and I remember why I love Manchester so much. I hope you've enjoyed my Manc-rain themed Folksy selections, and keep buying handmade.

Bath Time Blues

When my parents decorated their bathroom this past month, I found myself browsing Folksy to find 'a little something' to add a handmade splash to the place. I found so many beautiful things which would look great in a bathroom, & sadly was only able to purchase one of them. However, I thought I'd share everything that made my shortlist! True to character, I seem to have ended up with a bit of a blue / seaside / nautical theme going on. I can imagine myself drifting off to sea, at least in my head, with these calming decorations around me whilst soaking in the tub...

Happy New Year!

The team at FOF hope that you've all had a wonderfully relaxing and fun-filled Christmas and New Year - we certainly have! And to welcome us all into 2011 and a new decade, here's a stunning selection to celebrate the New Year and all that it stands for!

It's traditional to go first-footing on New Year's Eve, so here's something to keep those tootsies in tip-top condition.

In the UK, it's lucky if the first person to cross your threshold on New Year's Day is a man (although tradition doesn't say that it has to be a good-looking man...)

It's also considered good luck if that man brings with him either a lump of coal...(well, a bit of poetic licence was required here)

In some parts of Britain, the gift of mistletoe is also considered auspicious.
