O Flower Of Scotland...

Today is the anniversary of the death of Robert the Bruce - crowned the first recognised King of Scotland as an independent nation. He fought in many fierce and bloody wars (mainly with the English) in his lifetime, and his legacy was a strong and beautiful country, full of pride, and he remains a national hero.

Being so far back in history, little is known about the details of his life - but my favourite fact relates to his parents: legend has it that his mother kept his father as a captive until he agreed to marry her! It seems there were commitment-phobes even as far back as the 14th century!

Anyway, I thought what better than to celebrate all things Scottish today, and so here is a lovely selection of items that I "Found on Folksy"...
