Hang up your stockings!

I loved having a Christmas stocking - my sister and I always got one of my dad's hillwalking socks (clean, I hasten to add), which were always miraculously hanging up on the bannister in the hallway on Christmas morning - it didn't matter how late we stayed up, we never saw who put them there...And the contents were always fun-filled and frivolous, with the obligatory selection box, satsuma and 10p at the very toe of the stocking.

The great thing about Christmas stockings is that you're never too old to have one. So here are some lovely Folksy choices for you to put in your Christmas stockings this year!

Christmas Gifts for Kids

Christmas is all about the kids! There's nothing grander than seeing the expression on a child's face on Christmas morning, when they know that Father Christmas has been and left them just what they wanted. This year, ditch the gaudy plastic and usual mass-produced toys and instead choose some of these gorgeous goodies, handmade with thought, care and attention to detail...From babies to toddlers to the older ones, this selection of fun Folksy makes should give you some fantastic ideas!

Guaranteed to be a favourite cuddly toy, I'm already in love with this cute little bunny from Plum Pudding. Soft, squidgy, pink and utterly adorable.

Playing dress up will be a blast with this pirate kit from Kvintage

And especially for the girls, this Whimsical Pink Fairy Crown from EllaBellaFairy will satisfy even the most picky of princesses....it is pink, it has netting, it has roses...it is perfect!

Make learning fun with these colourful felt and hand embroidered numbers by Made with Tender Loving Care. A simple and tactile, educational game that toddlers will love to play with; a great idea.

Brighten up the nursery with one of these colourful and cheery buntings from HollieLollie. They can be personalised with your child's name - contact the seller for your own customisation.

Both boys and girls would love their own friendly robot to hang out with! Check out this excellent, grey fabric chap, by needlesandbuttons. Beep beep!

All little girls will love a piece of their own special, fancy jewellery. FluffsStuffs brooches and hairpins are great for adults and children alike, using the best, retro, cutesy fabrics. This little girl and kittens brooch is sure to be a winner.

Encourage your child's own creativity and make it easy to take those essential art items around on your travels. This children's travel art case by Little Daydreamers is perfectly pretty, and comes complete with paper and crayons.

This small selection of gifts for children has hopefully given you a taste for the handmade Christmas for you and yours...Check out Folksy for more original ideas and remember....keep the handmade pledge!

Exclusive Gifts for Christmas

Welcome to the first of our seasonal gift guides here on Found on Folksy, we've started early so you can plan early! I've selected my favourite luxury gifts for you to drool over and covet madly, although I would love for a few of these beauties to end up under someone's tree (preferable mine).

So enjoy these high end picks from the lovely makers and crafts people of Folksy, and leave a comment at the end if you have a moment.

First up this amazingly gorgeous Mulberry chair from Bonnie and Jackson, isn't it just the picture of Christmas by a log fire with the scent of pipe tobacco and pine cones?

In at two, a very unique idea for elegant jewellery from I can't remember my grandma's name. I love how you get the plate the pieces came from included to use as a display/jewellery keeper.

A silver family book pendant from Ali Bali Jewellery would make a very special gift for Mum or Grandma, and a wonderful heirloom too.

I've been fascinated with the papier mache bowls of Amelia Green Heart ever since I saw them on the front page, a wonderful piece of contemporary art for the home.

I can't help but think of The Magicians Nephew and Narnia when I see the stunning apple with insect from Silverfruit. I don't know how its made, but I like it a lot.

Awkward mother-in-law? Got a big budget but not sure what to buy? Then this beaded lace mohair shawl from The Crafty Bride could be in answer. Incredibly delicate and detailed, yet light as a feather, this shawl can not fail to impress.

How about some craft based art to cheer up his study? This oak picture with spring flowers from Jane Blease Design is a lovely cheery piece, with a great sense of craftsmanship and detail.

Teenage niece or daughter to buy for? These luminous peacock bright feather earrings from Still Tree are just the ticket. Metallic and rich colours are so on trend from AW2010 and SS2011 dah-link!

I love paper crafts and making books in particular.  There's so many ways we can create books: from simply stapling paper together to the meticulously painstaking art of book binding.  Here on Folksy there are some fantastic books and paper crafts and I hope you like this small selection.
